GIC HELPS KITCHEN GARDEN PRODUCE DOUBLE ITS CAPACITY

One of the UK’s leading manufacturers of packing machines is helping Kitchen Garden Produce has increased its capacity in the run-up to Christmas.

GIC has this month received an order for two of its GIC2100 servo machines, which will be installed at Kitchen Garden Produce’s Lincolnshire factory as part of a six-figure investment.

Kitchen Garden Produce, which is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of shallots and echalions, decided to upgrade its end-of-line operation due to increasing difficulty in sourcing parts for the ageing end-of-line machines.

As well as moving to more reliable machines, Kitchen Garden Produce will see its throughput capacity substantially increase thanks to the increased speed offered by the GIC 2100s.

GIC is well known to Kitchen Garden Produce, having supplied two GIC2100s in 2020.

“GIC is the most prominent manufacturer of vertical form fill and seal packing machines in the UK,” says Amy Sharpe, factory manager for Kitchen Garden Produce. “We like the fact that they are just fifteen miles away from us in Gainsborough, as it means we have no problem receiving support and spare parts when needed. Given the performance of the first two GIC2100s, which have been running without issue for two years, we had no hesitation in choosing GIC again for this upgrade project.”

As well as increasing Kitchen Garden Produce’s capacity, the specially-designed sealing jaw on the GIC2100 has dramatically reduced film use.

Established by Chris and Ann Kitchen in 1979 on a 22-acre farm, Kitchen Garden Produce grows shallots, echalion and asparagus, which are supplied to some of the UK’s leading food retailers.

GIC was established in 1987. Today, the company’s machines operate in a wide range of sectors, packing fresh and frozen produce, aggregates and bullion.  As well as designing, manufacturing and installing VFFS machines, GIC provides a complete after-sales package, including service and maintenance.
